Everglades Winter Fishing Report
I hope everyone had a Very Merry Christmas and a safe New Years Eve. 2022 is here and there’s nothing we can do about it, except be grateful that 2021 is behind us. I’ll have to say, 2021 was a really good year for me. I fished a lot, more than I ever have, maybe due to people being locked up in 2020 and they needed to get out. So I’m not complaining too much about 2021. Hopefully, most of you came through in good shape also.
I was actually on my way to pick up a customer on New Year’s Eve when he informed me that he and his wife had felt sick through the night and into the morning, so he decided that he had better pass on fishing that day. Turns out they took a Covid test and it came back negative, which is good news. Anyway, I called my buddy Andrew Bostick and told him I just got canceled and he said so did I… turns out out his guy just didn’t have the energy to fish that day. Andrew was half way to the ramp though, so he said let’s just go ahead and go, of course, I said ok. Well, we finished 2021 out in style. Because of the warm weather, there were some Tarpon around and we found them. He caught one about 120 and I caught one about 80. It’s nice to be on the front of the boat, helps give me that perspective again.
I hope everyone has a great and prosperous New Year!
